Polná Literátský kůr
This organ in Polná is the oldest musical instrument in Moravia, built by Johanes Effnert in 1656. Prior to its restoration, it had long been silenced due to severe damage by woodworm. The restoration was one of the most difficult I have encountered. Although most of the pipework could be saved, the lime feet and walling of the oak copula had been completely destroyed. The tin pipes were shortened and rescaled, and the result is, in my opinion, an authentic sound, although the restoration led to much disagreement among experts. The organ is tuned in mean tone at 415.
